LAGOS STATE LOTTERIES BOARD TO LAUNCH AGENT REGISTRATION PORTAL
As part of efforts to harmonise the activities of licensed operators and their agents in the gaming sector, the Lagos State Lotteries Board (LSLB) is about to introduce an online application for the registration of all operators’ agents.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Board, Mr. Bashir Are, made this known in his address at a two-day stakeholders’ interactive forum held at the Protea Hotel, Ikeja.
According to him, the Board would officially launch the platform next month as part of strategies to ensure checks and balances, as well as improve its operational standards and procedures.
He noted that the LSLB, in December last year, received two certifications from the International Standards Organisation (ISO) on Quality Management System (ISO 9001) and Information Security Management System (ISO 27001), stressing that the Board has resolved to ensure improved regulations in the gaming sector in line with world best practices.
Speaking further at the first series of the biannual stakeholders’ meeting, Mr. Are also disclosed that the Board, as the sole partner in West Africa for iGaming International, shall provide capacity development for its operators and other stakeholders in the gaming industry through iGaming Academy platform.
Are also noted that the issue of fraudulent agents and those that move from one company to another would be addressed by the Agents Registration Platform.
He revealed that the platform will provide an opportunity for operators to easily perform functions like carrying out background checks, registration and administering of agents without being physically present at the LSLB office.
Noting that year 2020 was very challenging due to the outbreak of COVID-19 which affected various business activities, Are thanked the operators for their co-operation and compliance during the period.
He disclosed that the proposed Agents registration system has been refined to ensure that only the necessary details are captured with control mechanisms for information assurance, integrity and security.
The Chief Executive Officer of LSLB urged the operators to always forward their complaints or challenges early to the Board through the official e-mail, and promised that the Board would ensure prompt response and quicker resolution to their various inquiries/challenges.
Earlier in her remarks, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Lottery Matters, Ms. Funmi Olotu, thanked the operators for honouring the invitation and assured them of fruitful deliberations.
Mr. Elijah Adejare, one of the participants, commended the Board for its efforts, stressing that the proposed training in collaboration with iGaming Academy will no doubt help to improve their skills and make them function better and more efficiently.
